Nursing jobs other than Elderly Care?

Don't get me wrong, I've worked as an HCA in elderly care (dementia and stroke) over the last 10 years and loved it.

So as not to drip feed, I decided to try out something else (covid really got to me on wards) and currently work in projects for the NHS. Still working closely with wards but not clinical and as nice as it is, I really miss being on wards and caring for people/the clinical side of things.

So I am looking at doing my nursing this year (I lacked my Maths qualification before but am now completing it) but wondered what jobs there are outside of elderly care? As I said, I loved it but I have grown tired of it, and I am worried I will complete a nursing degree and end up landing there again because of the high demand for it.

Why would you "end up" there? Go into ICU or Theatre if you want something different. You could become a CNS in a specialised field. There are tons of areas outside of elderly care. I haven't done it since I finished training and have no intention of ever doing it again. Too heavy.

If you don't know what other specialities there are, then you really need to look into that before applying and do some research and learning on what a nurse does in these areas.

Surgical, medical, acute admissions, A&E, neurology, oncology, cardiology, different speciality HDUs, theatres - so many different areas there, to name a few! You need to do some research.

Community nursing,
Continuing health care,
Spinal injuries,
Burns and plastic surgery,
Outpatients,
Surgical (theatres, dressing clinics, wards),
Oncology,
Urology,
Heamatology,
Opthalmology,
Head injuries,
... Lots of different areas, my advice would be make the most of your placements when training (try and go for a university linked to large teaching hospitals rather than small general hospitals), work for NHS professionals and try different areas (see what you like) and get out of your comfort zone. Nursing is so varied you'll find something you enjoy.

What crawled up your ass and died? I asked a question because I wanted to know what else was out there. No need to be so damn rude.

To everyone else, thanks for the replies. I am well aware what other specialities there are but forget it. Obviously no point asking advice here.
