Cover Letter: something along the lines of.

Dear Mr DentistMan

I write regarding your recent advertisement for Dental Nurse and wish to be considered for this position.

I attach my CV for your perusal and look forward to hearing from you.

Your faithfully

MustSleep

Personal Bit:

I have worked for many years as a [insert something]. Over the years I have gained a vast amount of experience in [insert something good] and thoroughly enjoy working with people.

Although I have never worked as a Dental Nurse I have for sometime been very interested in this as a future Career. I am well educated and have the ability to grasp new procedures with ease.

Or something like that.

Perhaps someone else shall come along and help make that look a wee bit better!!

Good luck.

Just put in maternity leave. If the question comes up at interview re childcare hours etc (no don't put it in cv as per your question - wait for them to ask you). You can use bringing up your children as 'work experience' you know. I did. Think of the work relating skills being a mom involves working to deadlines/responsibility/learning new skills very quickly etc. I'm sure they won't ask you (not sure its legal) any really nasty questions about how working and childcare will work try using the line somewhere that I used "I have a family to be responsible for so I'm going to give this job my all in order to provide them with a secure future"

Okay let me think.

Since the birth of my children I have continued to work part-time. Although some of this has not been my preferred choice of employment it has given me vast experience in different sectors.

Whilst working within a Restaurant I dealt with all customer complaints and ensuring the Restaurant ran smoothly.

More recently I have been employed as a Receptionist within a [insert word] Company this involved greeting visitors, dealing with all telephone enquiries, diary management, filing and dealing with administration work.

I enjoy working and am very professional in all that I undertake. I am polite, reliable and have the ability to grasp new procedures very quickly. I to work well in a team but have ability to work with little or no Supervision if required.

??

Phone the Dental practice and ask. Employers are always impressed by someone who calls to find out a little about the business before they interview. (you could use the phone call to find out a little background from the receptionist if you're brave/and she's nice!!)

mustsleep · 27/11/2007 10:22

sorry to keep bothering you i did the full admin, receptionist bit b4 i has ds so it was about six years ago, should i still include that in the top bit of my cv, did the restaurant and then cleaning last?

Put Dear Ms xxx.

Also maybe add how you enjoy working as part of a small team (presume your current job involve some team working - if it doesnt say this is why you want to change jobs) and how much you enjoy working with people, getting to know patients etc.

mustsleep · 27/11/2007 10:26

thanks i hate doing stuff like this find tha actual interview itself easier

To be honest it doesn't matter which order its in.

I would concentrate more on the administration and working with people via the Resturant.

You don't have to list your jobs and dates, you can generalise, ie. Over the past few years bla bla bla bla, or Since the birth of my first child I have been......

or

Since having my children and working part-time I have been bla bla bla

If they ask then that's different.

Be confident about your skills and mention that your are able to prioritse as you do this at home with the dc.

Build on the skills you have.

mustsleep · 03/12/2007 09:32

thank you for your help, have got an interview

but went back onto the job centre website just to confirm the details and they have changed them!! the contact name has changed and now it says in capital letters that the postion is TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE, but it still says at the top permanent only???

will have to ask about this at the interview me thinks, can;t really be affording to quit my job to only work for a couple of months, although i do know that if the place likes you they will somtimes keep you on
