Hi been offered a job and signed the acceptance letter which gave weekly hours and annual salary.

What happens next? I'm so out of the loop as I was in my previous job a while. I sent it back Monday and they're received it, just playing the waiting game.

I would have thought your new employer will want to do some pre-employment checks, so references, check your ID documents/qualifications/professional registration if appropriate, DBS or security checks if needed, maybe health clearance. Then when all this is cleared (and I would suggest not resigning from current role until it is, assuming you are still in employment), set a start date (HR may suggest one or you may be asked to contact your new manager to agree one), then you should receive your 'statement of main terms and conditions' (commonly called a contract), then you can start! Obviously processes vary from place to place so the above is just a general guide, public sector roles there can be a long wait as the compliance checks are very lengthy, other types of company you could get a confirmation and start date very quickly - if you're unsure I would phone HR or your new manager and ask...
