Annual leave - return from ML + going part time

Just wondering if someone can check my maths!! Have name changed in case my boss works out it’s me Grin

So our holiday year this year runs 1 May 2021 - 30 April 2022. I am returning from maternity on 2 August, when I’ll be going down to a 4 day week, with Mondays as my non working day. I’ve been on statutory maternity throughout (no enhancement, if relevant). Standard allocation for full timers is 25 days plus BHs. My understanding is that my allocation is calculated as follows:

STEP 1 - during maternity. 3 months of usual allocation (so 25% of 25 = 6 days) plus all the bank holidays in that time (2 days) so total 8 days for this part.

STEP 2 - on return from maternity, 80% of full time. 19 days remain in this section of the year, and 6 bank holidays in this time = 25 days. 80% of 25 is 20 days. Because I’m not working Mondays I then subtract all the non-Monday bank holidays during that time, of which there are 2. So total for Step 2 is 18.

To get my total allocation until 30 April 2022 I then add those figures together so 8 + 18 = 26 days.

Is that right? I think it is but it seems weird that I’ve got more A/L days than I would get as a full timer despite spending a quarter of the year on maternity and going down to 4 days!!

Thank you in advance Smile

@dementedpixie they’ve listed it in a confusing way (to me, anyway)

It just states -

PT annual leave - 15 days
PT bank holiday - 5 days
Less BH adjustment- 12 days

And it’s 12 days I’ve been given. 2 used for furlough, 2 for Xmas and I’ve got 8.

Doesn’t make any sense to me. I just had a look online and it is as you say, 19 odd days.

dementedpixie · 08/07/2021 21:16

So they've given 20 days then deducted 8 for no apparent reason?

Plus only 28th December will be one of your working days so you don't need 2 working days deducted

dementedpixie · 08/07/2021 21:20

⅗ of 25 (full time entitlement) = 15
⅗ of 8 (bank holidays) = 4.8 (round up to 5)

This bit is ok. Why they've then deducted 8 days is a complete mystery and you'll need to ask about it

@dementedpixie thanks! I will query. No doubt I’ll be back when they baffle me again...

dementedpixie · 08/07/2021 21:22

Why should she deduct 2 days for Christmas when she would only be due to work 1 of them?

@clolo thank you. I will definitely raise it with them...... again. Blush

Whathefisgoingon · 08/07/2021 21:25

@dementedpixie we have to take 29th & 30th as annual leave as the office is shut

dementedpixie · 08/07/2021 21:30

Ah right. So you'd be off 28th and 29th and 30th then? That would be 3 days off your entitlement then.

Whathefisgoingon · 08/07/2021 21:43

@dementedpixie yep. Still seems to be 2/3 days missing though!

dementedpixie · 08/07/2021 21:58

So 19.8 - 3 for Christmas and -2 for furlough = 14.8 left
