Same NHS Trust as someone I've had trouble with, wwyd? :-/

I've just seen an NHS vacancy in the same trust where I currently work, but much closer to home and better hours. I'd like to apply for it and meet all the criteria.
Only thing that worries me a bit is the department where the vacancy is, one of my old colleagues from previous role works there and might be involved in the interview/selection process. We never got on when we worked together previously, she used to make nasty remarks whenever I did well or received credit/praise for anything at work. Maybe just jealousy, I don't know.
Anyway, I know for sure she's one of the senior admin leads (also doubles up as a secretary). I know this because I still have the occasional work-related dealings with her department.
If she's involved in the selection/interview process could she carry any clout in telling the recruiting manager not to give me an interview or offer me the role if I meet the criteria and do well at interview?
Knowing that she works there makes me apprehensive about applying. WWYD?

Hi OP, well there is no harm in applying, as surely the worst that can happen is that you are granted an interview, but are not offered the job. However if you were offered the job, you would then have to decide whether to accept or not. I wonder if you would be able to find out if you would actually be working much with this person, and it is possible that their personality has improved as they got older. My advice is to apply, but keep an open mind about everything. Good Luck!

As pp, no harm in applying and interviewing but I would think long and hard about how you would work with her. No point having a better job but not enjoying it.

I’m not sure if this is the same with all NHS Trusts (I am assume it is though) but in the one in which I work, all of your personal details are removed from the application when given to the department to make their selections for the interviews. So unless she recognises you from your employment history (which I suppose is possible), if she does have any clout in selection she would not know it was you.

But as pp’s have stated, probably think deeply about whether you would be happy working with that individual again. I have just left my department due to colleagues as they were making me absolutely miserable and affecting my mental health. We have to spend a lot of time at work so it’s important to be happy there.
