This morning I was offered a job! But I'm not sure if I want to go back to work althogh the job sounds great.

I am a nurse in the military but I don't think I want to go back to nursing.

I have 2 children aged 4.5 and 2. Dd started schoool this year and DS is at home with me. It took me a while but I now love being a SAHM although I recognize that my brain is a bit mushy!

I am also a Homestart volunteer which I really love and a part-time post has come up locally. It's only 12 hours a week and I can choose my own hours. The local Organiser is lovely and I really get on with her, I'm just a bit unsure but don't know why.

Not really sure what I am even asking of you (if you have read this far) maybe just experiences of going back to work after being a sahm, general advice, what would you do? type of thing. Thanks for getting this far in my ramblings

Give it a go,sounds like a worthwhile and rewarding job too.CONGRATS!

I'm still looking for work atm so can't offer any advice but I know when I worked part time last yr (seasonal post) it did me the world of good and I realised I did actually have a brain in there somewhere

Wow - sounds fab - go for it! At least this way you can try it and if it's not for you then you can say you gave it a go!!!

Thanks everyone...after reading back my op and your replies I'm not even sure why I started this thread......of course i've got to take it! 12 hours that I can choose, 2 mins to walk to work (forgot to tell you that one) child care available very locally, it's a no brainer ....which in turn will hopefully turn my brain back on!

MCD - THis is scarily similar to me! I was volunteering while SAHM for 5 years. It led to a 10-hour-a-week job, 2 mins walk from home and school. 2 years later and I am working 4 days a week, flexible and very happy
Good luck..!

Well done! In April i was in the same position as yourself. I had been a SAHM for nearly 5yrs and had a 2yr dd and an almost 5yr dd and whilst they were small i had been doing voluntuary work for Age Concern, mainly gardening and befriending and also did some meals on wheels.
Last Spring i decided to go for it and i can choose which days i work and most weeks it's between 12hrs and 19hrs depending on how busy they are.
I'm working as a Home Carer or some people know it as Community Home care, its a very satisfying job and can be hard sometimes but i'm still enjoying it and as i work evenings and weekends i still get to see the kids most of the day.

That is spooky fullmoon! Sounds too good an opportunity to miss and ieven if I hate it I can stop and explain it's not for me. I will be giving it a go in the new year. WIll probably be on here for some advice as one of the first jobs is to raise the profile locally!
