re: WFH

Since late October I have been largely WFH whilst the rest of the team I work with are based largely on site as they are patient facing. I can work on site if my line manager is wfh, due to office space & social distancing. This has generally been on set days (1-2 per week), but on occasion my LM has decided the night before that she is WFH and as such I can come in. I am expected to be flexible, but it seems that others can be less flexible. I have found the transition to WFH difficult and isolating at times, but have come to accept it. LM thinks my role is compatible for WFH and it is likely to form part of a permanent hybrid approach.
I find the changes in days difficult as well, both in terms of focus and planning. Am I being unreasonable...? Is there anything I can do to make this easier?

Can you ask for a rota for the week so you know where you'll be?

Set boundaries.

Just have a chat about what the business and your needs are...

Assuming your official place of employment remains onsite, it seems reasonable to me that you sometimes need to go in. I also think it is reasonable to ask if you could have more notice, but I don’t see how you could demand it.

Are you more productive at home because of the other demands on your time when you're in the office? I think it's unfair if your manager to pick and choose when they are in, giving you short notice of changes. There needs to be more certainty.

I think changing at short notice is unfair. I would suggest a rota and accept that occasionally things can change but it shouldn’t be in your managers whom assuming one of you needs to be in?
