Hey, wondering if someone can clarify the above relief for me? I’m 23 and in my first fully WFH job, and have never claimed tax relief before so feel a bit confused

Just say I spend £250 on working from home expenses like a monitor or a laptop that is exclusively being used for work. My employer didn’t contribute to costs either. Am I right in thinking that HMRC will update my tax code to add the £250 in my personal tax allowance if the purchase is deemed eligible?

If I’ve got that wrong please let me know

The tax relief s336 capital allowances rules are aimed at the self employed, other than in a very narrow set of circumstances. You would therefore need to submit a self assessment tax return.
Be careful here if you do claim CA tax relief, the rules around exactly what is allowable and what isn't takes a bit of thought and reading. The general principle of "wholly, necessarily and exclusively" can be quite hard to meet.
Desks, chairs, computers, monitors are all going to be hard to justify under tax law. You really need to get the company to buy them and provide them - you're an employee the employer should provide what you need to do your job and generally that's what tax relief assumes too.
