It's reasonable for your employer to involve OH but you don't have to attend. However, I advise you do.

Sorry pressed send too early. OH can advise your employer how long you may be off, if there's any reasonable adjustments they can out in place and support you and your employer in managing your absence and supporting you when you return to work. It's in your interest to attend and show willing.

You seem to have a few simultaneous issues going in here but on the occupational health front I agree that you should go ahead with it. It's not unusual to ask you to do an assessment after an absence like yours and it can work in your favour if they suggest reasonable adjustments.

The last OH I went to was very supportive & wrote that my employers were skating very close to breaching equality law. They can be really helpful.

What’s your concern about Occupational Health? Refusing would not be sensible.

What’s happening with your role- if they told you in March that they need to increase the hours where is that process ‘at’ now?

vivainsomnia · 09/06/2021 13:19

The role could be made fulltime but as a job share.

OH assessment should go in your favour as they will discuss the adjustments you require to come back to work. However, it is also a tick box exercise for the company if they are looking to dismiss you at some point.

I found OH really supportive when I was going through a very bad time at work. I think the person who sent me there hadn't expected them to be as supportive as they were!
