The opposite of micro managing - micro updating

Sorry for odd title.

We've all heard of managers ' micro managing ' well I have the opposite.

Someone I manage ( remote working at moment) emails me constantly with updates on issues we're working on when we have a clear system for recording actions. E.g ' phoned Jo Bloggs left a message, will try again later. , or 'spoke to Peter they said .... '

I don't actually need to know these micro details.

Anyone else have these issues? How do you manage this without appearing rude. Their emails are distracting at times. Sorry that sounds awful but I don't need to know this micro detail.

I work with a couple of people like this. One ccs me on the emails then emails me separately to tell me shes responded with xyz (I know! I do read…!)

The other sends updates all the god long day. Usually though she titles them “xyz client - call update etc” so I can choose to ignore.

If I have a call with a client which is important/relevant I’ll update the team by sending a note of the call. But not every single call.

So I spoke to mrs a the other day and she asked for tax info and gave me an update te her family’s financial situation - relevant as we need to make distributions to them.

I then spoke to mr b and he asked whether we’d recieved the documents he’d sent in the post. - not relevant tto update.

Some good advice here. Another option might be to say you don't need to be updated every day but could she email you on a Friday with her 5 top things of the week?

Or something similar.
