Moving from a traditional law firm to an ABS?

I'm almost 4 years PQE and have the option to move to the legal department of an ABS.

I'm currently at a law firm, in a specialism I like, boss I like, flexible working, WFH as much as I want etc.

Moving to the ABS, would be all the same benefits as above, with a few k more money.

I'm not fussed about the money as we have a low key lifestyle and 2 wages coming in.

My concern is whether I'd be potentially ruining my future career development by moving out of the traditional law firm structure. Right now, I don't have career aspirations of partnership in my firm (I have two young children and haven't filed out another). Right now, I like that I can clock off once I've done my hours etc, to do tea, bath, stories and bed with my toddlers. However, say 10 years from now, I might want to pursue the corporate ladder, when the kids are older.
If i move to an ABS without a traditional structure, would I struggle to move back into a law firm? I had read quite a lot of comments in the law society gazette a few years ago, that alternative business structures are seen as not being as "good" as a firm.
Anyone with hiring experience in the legal world would be appreciated Grin

TLDR: am I shooting myself in the foot for career development in years to come, if I move to an ABS now? Same role, but a bit more money, which is not a deal maker/breaker.

Sorry no hiring experience, but I would say it sounds like you have the perfect job why would you risk moving, particularly having a boss you like.

@pilates this is true, I have pretty much everything I want at the law firm. It's also comfortable, I'm not one for constantly needing change.

I don't understand why you want to move.

Honestly having a nice boss seems to be quite rare nowadays, I would stay put
