Anyone with experience of repaying maternity pay?

I'm due back at work in October after having DD2. We're claiming UC and DP has had a promotion which would mean that with me returning to my job we would no longer be eligible for UC. If we were to pay for childcare for DD2 and wrap around care for DD1 it would cost more than I actually earn and without being able to claim back with UC we'd be worse off with me working. My job unfortunately doesn't lend itself to remote or flexible working. I know this may mean I have to repay my maternity pay, does anyone have any experience with this? Have they wanted the money back in full in one go or have they been happy to accept small repayments?
I know this will likely be different with different employers, just looking for other people's experiences

What are the repayment terms? I'm assuming you signed something.

Have you factored in tax free childcare? www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare

Normally it's if you don't return for 12 weeks after maternity leave. It'll be broken down to a net amount (after tax, NI, pension) and invoiced. You can negotiate repayment, some will accept smaller instalments some won't.

I had to repay my additional MAT pay. I just told them I could afford £50/month. They didn’t question it. I payed that back for a couple of years and then it was payed off.

Do you have any annual leave accrued that can be used to work the required period?
