I am looking at reducing my hours at work to 17 per week at £10 per hour. I won’t earn enough to pay NI will this affect my contributions or does my employer pay them?

Between £120 and £180 per week you’re treated as though you have made contributions without actually paying them.

what happens if you earn less than £120 per week? Do you lose out on NI contributions putting state pension at risk?

If you receive WTC and earn less than £120 per week, you may be entitled to NI credits which protect your entitlement to the state pension.
