Hi, I was wondering if you enjoy it or wish u had a permanent job. Do u get loads of work??
My dh has a new job and it involves oncall work regularly making childcare difficult. Was thinking about giving up permanent post just to work on nurse bank. Only need to work about 15hrs a week money-wise, but I worry about job security.

I did it for about 6 months in between leaving the NHS and joining the RAF. I loved it, wish I had done it earlier. It was before I was married and had children so for me the freedom it gave me was fab, which is essentially what you require because you have children. I was turning work down but this was a few years although I don't think the situation has changed much.

Yes. I am an auxilary my trust has enough shifts for me to work f/t I am usually offered a choice of 2-5 areas.

Nice to be able to pick and chose hours but no continuity which is hard sometimes because you never get to know the patients.

I work for the nurse bank at my local hospital, usually only a couple of nights a month. I always get a shift and have a choice of a few wards. They text me most days aswell just to check my availability.

Alot of trusts have had a recrutment freeze over the last year due to over spending so many wards are desperatly under staffed. I don't think you'll have any problems getting work.
