Part time hours to fit with primary school?

quick question with a view to next Sept, when I go back to work and DS1 starts reception. (I think DS2 will have to lump it in the work nursery!)

what are the pro's and con's of working either mornings-only, so I can do all the school pick-ups and after-school stuff OR three full days so I will need a CM or after school club on those days? and what hope is there for the school holidays?

It's a 30-45 minute journey to work depending on the traffic.

I do 4 mornings and love being able to pick ds up after school and spend some time with him. I also loved it when he was at pre-school so I had the afternoon with him after I got home.
I have the advantage of my mum having the kids in the morning, so I leave by 7.30am and am home by 1.30pm. Without her I would do what I do on a wed, which is to drop ds1 at school, meet the cm there with ds2 and go straight to work - then do the reverse on the way home. It is a much more stressful day,

There are advantages time wise of both, bit swings and roundabouts, but if you need a CM for the holidays, it may be easiest if you've got one for term time too. Therefore three full days. TBH I found that easiest work wise. When I was doing mornings, there was a lot of pressure to achieve something solid every day so it was a manic four hours. Over a full day, you relax and enjoy the same pace as your other full time colleagues, if that makes sense.
