School admin interview

Could anyone offer me any tips for a school admin interview?

I'm assuming they'll ask about safeguarding. I'm always at a loss what to say when they ask for weaknesses. What doesn't sound too bad to say?

It's a panel of 3 including the Head, I'm so nervous about it. Any tips gratefully received Smile

Best answer for weakness is something that's not crucial to the job and an answer that shows you've worked on improving.

Great example would be public speaking - not crucial for school admin, a lot of people can relate to it. You can say it's your greatest weakness but you've worked on it by volunteering to lead meetings etc.

Ooh that's a great answer! Thank you

Confidentiality is a big one
Basic understanding of GDPR
Prioritisation and working under pressure
Attention to detail
Team player, supportive of colleagues, can do attitude

Don't be nervous, I am sure you will be great 😊

Just don’t use the ‘weakness’ to unsubtly give a strength, it’s so cringe when someone says ‘I guess because I’m always so punctual I find it hard to cope with others being late’ or ‘because I’m so organised sometimes other people find me too keen’ Grin Public speaking is a great example.

I've never been asked my greatest weakness TBH. In my most recent interview, I was asked to give an example of a time I'd made a mistake at work, and what I'd done to rectify it.

Thank you the replies are really helpful.

Yes I hate those sorts of replies too to weaknesses, so cliche and cringe!

They want to know about my skills, attributes, weaknesses and areas of improvement. They also want for me to tell them about me. Do I start off with personal stuff like hobbies etc then lead into work history or just stay with work history?

God it's been sooo long since I've done this!

I was going to say safeguarding, confidentiality and prioritising will come up.

Ive havent been asked about a weakness in interview for a long time. I think it needs to be something tha you have a workaround for or really irrelevant to the job.
