Feeling so awkward about boss (potentially) knowing..

Background, I work on a small friendly team and everyone gets on well. I love the job but I've been (quietly) looking for something better paid for a while now. Obs haven't said anything at work (there's nothing that can be done re negotiating a pay rise, it's set pay scales, over which my boss has no control).
I don't have a personal laptop so use my work laptop for personal stuff done out of work (this is completely ok and allowed). Staff can store their "personal stuff" on the H-Drive. Today at work I had my H-Drive open on the screen as has been doing stuff at lunchtime on it, banking and stuff. Anyway, there are a couple of documents titled "job application for XXX" or "application pack" and similar - obs to anyone seeing them at they're job-hunting related.
After lunch my manager came straight over to my desk before I'd had chance to close my H-Drive and was standing behind me at one point. I'm terrified he might have seen my job hunting documents (well not the actual docs, just the list of their titles).
Don't know what to say if he directly asks me about it! I don't like any kind awkwardness at work.

Tell him what you put here if he asks, you love it there but need more money and opportunities and understand that is an option there..

One of our employee saved his application for another job to Onedrive where is was visible to everyone - it was good to have advance notice that he was looking for another job, helped us plan better and we knew why he wanted to move jobs, we didn't take it personally and we were pleased for him when he found a job that suited him better - obs we'd have preferred he stayed but what can you do? A new recruit however had a terrible time when he resigned - his boss took it really badly - which I think is totally unfair - people have the right to seek employment that suits their needs. It's hard to know what way your boss will see it.
