Should I just assume I haven't been shortlisted

I applied for a vacancy online, filled out their 10 page application form and completed their 2000 word person specification as instructed.

The person specification required going through the both job description and the behavioural qualities document and show, with examples how you meet the requirements. I did all this, it took me hours (job description was 2 pages long). Then spent another hour checking and proof-reading.

The closing date was 18th April, got my application in on 16th, shows as submitted on their system and got an automated email confirming the sumission from a "do not reply" mailbox. Interviews are supposed to be taking place w/c 26th April (so this week).

I haven't heard anything at all, do I assume I haven't been shortlisted or should I contact them?

For background, it is a role where I meet all their criteria and have several years of experience. Linkedin shows that there were 3 applicants (not including mine). It is for a University.

I wouldn't assume anything at all at this stage. Recruitment is a slow process at the best of times, now you've got people at home, sign off is slower etc etc.

I would contact them though and say that you have been holding dates for potential interview could they please confirm status.

They could have received many many application not through LinkedIn so I wouldn't count on them having only received yours +3.

@idontlikealdi
Thank you for replying and I think you might have brought me a little luck! Whilst having a little browse on MN, I've received an email inviting me for an interview next week Smile
