What should I take

Photos of the children?
Brochures?
My outstanding certificate from OFSTED?
Newspaper article about being outstanding?
Pictures of the Nursery?
Plans of Nursery?

Also a tablecloth
Any other ideas?

TIA
KMc

business cards

bowl of sweets/fruit (people love to nibble)

Katymac · 13/11/2007 15:37

Good ideas (I might eat them all though)

Should I take toys (I didn't think so, but wasn't sure)

Have you got any printed freebies? like pens, post it notes ect,

people love freebies! lol

RubySlippers · 13/11/2007 15:40

toys are good

you need things which will draw people to your stand and get them interested

have you got tall display panels - make sure you have lots of examples of the childrens' art work

Katymac · 13/11/2007 15:41

Hmm art work - That could be tricky - they tend to take it home

I'll have a think

No freebies (unfortunatley)

Toys - the nicest (wooden) toys - just 2 or 3 - or a big wodge?

Take some photos of artwork and then get them blow up onto a2 size. They'll look good.

RubySlippers · 13/11/2007 15:49

how long will you be there for?

Are you taking someone with you - also, take a folding chair for your own comfort!

Katymac · 13/11/2007 15:49

Maybe I should do some artwork to take - that seems so contrived

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 13/11/2007 15:49

wooden toys IMO

Katymac · 13/11/2007 15:50

only 4 hrs - I might take a folding chair

I must print out some cards & photos

i like wooden toys too

I'll see how many we can spare

Maybe some jigsaws on the table and some bigger toys under the table?

Oh must take paper & pencils too, in case any children come with their mums and need entertaining

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 13/11/2007 15:54

good idea re paper and pencils

bigger toys - not sure - space may be limited

Katymac · 13/11/2007 16:01

I was thinking a bead maze, a click-clack track and a couple of stacker toys - but that might be too much

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 13/11/2007 16:10

one of those items would be fine

you are going to have a lot to carry and arrange

Katymac · 13/11/2007 16:14

I have a people carrier

I have a suitcase on wheels

I have a bad back

I also need blu-tak to put stuff up

balloons as well - nice and colourful

hope it goes well for you!

Katymac · 13/11/2007 16:18

Do you think I am going over the top?

It is a business thingie - am I thinking too 'child'?

I suppose I am thinking that whether or not I persuade women into childminding I might get some new children (is that awful of me?)

OP posts:
FrostyGlassSlipper · 13/11/2007 17:11

I would say you have too many toys. What is the point of you attending? If to attract other women into childminding then aim your stands at the women with some extras for the children, not at the children with some extras for the women. IMO

Katymac · 13/11/2007 17:23

I thought so

So I guess no balloons either

It is so hard - maybe I should take a selection of stuff & ask the organisers (mind you they might be too busy to think tomorrow)

OP posts:
FrostyGlassSlipper · 13/11/2007 17:55

Balloons are fine. We all like them and they arent too heavy to carry

Katymac · 14/11/2007 09:04

Thanks for everyones suggestions so far

Does anyone else want to suggest anything

I leave at 10(ish)

I am feeling very nervous & a bit sick atm

I have never done anything like this

What if no-one talks to me

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 14/11/2007 15:50

sooo - how was it?
hope it went well

Katymac · 14/11/2007 17:48

Well

No children
Very few adults
Mainly the other stall holders walking round to see each other
Bit of a waste of time imo

But one of the other business women was looking for childcare - so I might have got something out of it, who knows

A lot of work for not a lot of result I think

what a shame after that effort
sometimes these sorts of things are great
