Well usually you would appoint someone on the bottom of a band - unless you felt they had relevant experience and then it would be up to the manager's discretion. But different trusts have different policies on this so I would check very carefully before you go for interview and possibly waste your time. Why do you want to go from a band 5 to a band 3? Band 5 is usually qualified or newly qualified - band 3 unqualified?

Not sure on this.I know if you go up a band you start on the lowest increment and then it increases yearly until you get to top increment, but not sure about going from band 5 to 3.Could you give your wages and salaries department a ring and see what they say?

it is going from nurse to therapy assistant. i think job satisfaction is more important than money.

sorry just looking at that again - you don't have to answer btw!

Sorry cross posts! I agree but it could be a considerable drop in pay so I guess all I am saying is you need to think carefully about whether you think it is worth that. Worth a few phone calls before you spend a lot of time on applications/interviews etc? On the other hand they will be able to see from your application what you have been paid before so will maybe guess that you will not be prepared to start at the bottom of the scale! HTH

Good luck.

Hope it is more rewarding for you.

I wouldn't have the courage to do this but I do get fed up of the crap that comes with being a nurse some days. The ongoing shortstaffing is the worst, along with the ever expanding paperwork mountain.I LOVE the direct patient care though. Its just all the other crapola that gets in the way.

it sounds dead interesting. My daughter is having OT at the mo and I have developed a interest in it. DH has just got a new job paying 50% more so money is not so much of an issue. I will be doing bank to keep up my nursing registration anyway.
