Time off Work with Covid

I know how sensitive this topic is, but would love some advice as a manger I work with is taking the perverble. Last year off 6 months with what she said was COVID, everyone very sypathetic and glad to see her back at work. December she sent out email with attachement that had letter allowing us to portay as Social Workers and go and get the Vac early (work in social care but not as social care worker) I objected to that letter and told her the ethics where dispicable, then she told everyone she had the two vac early, so she would be OK as had full vac course, due to being vunerable because of medical conditions. Then 4 weeks ago she called in sick with COVID again, oh poor you, we all said, hope you feel better soon. She had two weeks off, then back in work for 2 weeks. Then low and behold called in sick again after having her COVID vac at the weekend???????? Another vac after having the other 2, Im not sure if this is something recommended and having it 2 weeks after recovering from COVID, surely she has built up some immunity from having the second jab already and catching it again. This person is either very unlucky or spinning a yarn which I am having to cover the work load for!!! Should I go to HR with my concerns or just let it ride and just carry on doing her work which is causing a great deal of extra workload ontop of my own? I am not sure anyone should be getting 3 vaccines anyway!

Are you her manager?

FawnDrench · 19/04/2021 19:10

Unless you're her manager, it's not really your concern, however the time off does seem excessive.
What do your colleagues think - are they also having extra work to do because of this?

Surely this person's manager should be looking into all this -perhaps you could direct your concerns to this person, emphasising the knock-on effect and stating that this way of working is simply not sustainable.

This is for her manager to deal with, it cannot have escaped their notice.

So she’s had three covid vaccines?Confused

Cupcakes69 · 20/04/2021 17:28

We are of both same entry managers, she is good at bending the truth alot of time and yes her 3rd vaccine. Off again today but set her tracker to appear at work but away, she knows what she is doing to cover her tracks and has holiday booked at end of week. I will take my concerns to our Director who is both her and my line manager and let him deal with her, I am sick of having to do her work and mine, not the first time either. During the pandemic last year when she came back to work she used Covid as an excuse for not getting workload done in time. Unbelievable!

Yeah raise it with her boss then back off... it might be that she's got other health issues going on that she's trying to keep private and is using Covid as a (badly planned) cover
