Department for Education flexible working?

I'd like to apply for a job in ESFA, senior grade. Lots of postcodes listed on the job location. Anyone know how flexible DfE/ESFA's flexible working policies are? I'd ideally like to WFH 3-4 days a week, if there are lots of postcodes available I assume you don't need to be based with the team (which is in Coventry) so I wondered if WFH was common? Not asking these questions to the recruiting manager unless successful but curious in the meantime.

Hi. Unless your role requires you to be in the office most civil servants at working from home unless they are unable, until at least June.

Across DfE and I imagine, same for ESFA it is really common to work in teams where people are based at different sites, so as the ad has stated other locations you won't need to work out of Coventry office.

The really good thing about civil service is flexible working it is something which you might be better to explore with your manager either formally or informally once in post if you get the job. One thing you could do, for example is compressed hours so you work a working week, or fortnight in fewer days, quite a few people especially higher up do 9 day fortnights. You can also start later/earlier as long as it fits with business needs.

Hope this helps, good luck.
