How long after applying for NHS did you hear back?

I've recently submitted an application post for a band 2 role within the NHS, closing date was 2 days ago. Roughly how long should I hear back if successful? I'm on pins constantly checking my emails SmileShock

It depends entirely on when they have time to shortlist! In our team the managers book in half a day to spend on it, usually a couple of days after the closing date. The Easter holidays might delay it slightly if the relevent people are on leave. I'd have thought you'll hear back sometime next week though. Good luck!

Thank you for replying, I really want it! But I know in my area they got a very high volume of applicants, would you know if they contact you if unsuccessful? To let you know either way

In my experience the wheels can be shockingly slow.
If you prove you meet the person spec you should get an interview.
Good luck!

I applied for a Band 5 EA role, I have no NHS experience at all.. I got an interview notification on the day after it closed. Had my interview, they called me back immediately to have a second interview and they called me back an hour later to offer me the role. I got my unconditional offer this week and I'm handing in my notice on Tuesday!! Stay positive.. That's all I will say :)

So it could go either way, rather a quick response or slow, I worked hard on my person spec, I got my friend to proof read it who is a nurse she thought I met every point. I have no experience, other than I'm a special need teaching assistant working with children with severe medical needs. So I have tried my best to link this in. My only downfall is,if lots of internal applicants apply, Shock

First time was NHS catering services took 8 weeks start to finish then 2nd time NHS clerical was quicker from application to start date within 4 weeks..it all depends on who, what, where, why imo

Gracebeau89 · 10/04/2021 23:13

Thank you for all your replies, I need to keep myself busy and stop checking my emails every 2 minutes Grin

I would say they actually encourage people without NHS background to apply for jobs. Did you call the number on the advert to have a chat with the recruiter. I applied for 3 jobs and got interviewed for all 3 and my background is corporate private sector.. Have some faith in yourself :)

Gracebeau89 · 10/04/2021 23:31

I did email the recruiter for more info, I was told it all came down to your application regarding experience, and just make sure you answer all the points in person spec

Then if you've done that you have absolutely nothing to worry about :)

Gracebeau89 · 11/04/2021 23:03

Can I ask did you apply on track jobs?

OP posts:
Cazz246 · 12/04/2021 13:10

It can be anything from the same day of closing to a couple of months! On average around 4 to 5 working days.

Babyroobs · 12/04/2021 23:57

I have applied for a few NHS jobs recently. One I received an interview date very soon after the closing date, another it has been 2 weeks since closing date and I only received the interview date today.

MissTediousGirl · 18/04/2021 20:42

I work in NHS. For each job I've gone for it's been at least 3 weeks between closing date and hearing if you've got an interview or not. Hope it's quicker for you!

Marni83 · 01/09/2021 06:15

When did you hear op?
I had my interview last Tuesday
Still not heard!

Gracebeau89 · 11/09/2021 13:14
