Is there any legitimate work at home jobs?

I'm 33 weeks pg and just been sacked (there's a post in here about that so i'll brush past it)

I doubt anyone is going to want someone this pregnant so I'm guessing i'll need to get a work at home job.

I'm really good at typing etc and was hoping to get a work at home job but they all seem to be rip offs.

Also what about avon etc is that worth it?

Thanks ahead.

LuckySalem · 09/11/2007 20:19

God, poor you. Fingers crossed you find something.
I know this isnt a 'job' as such but Ive just been on the tixylix website and they're looking for mums to keep video diaries and blogs for them...they provide you with all the equipment (which you keep) and generally help you...I think it's going to be a bit like big brother but with mums...(Big Mother! I just made that up!) I was hoping in my own fantasy land that Id win and become a web celeb and baby companies would start paying me thousands to talk about their products!
Dream on!
PS Other bonus is that they pay money inot your kiddies trust fund for a year.

Avon/Usborne/Bettaware etc can all bring in a bit of extra income, but they'd all be a bit tricky to handle for someone whose heavily pregnant or trying to cope with a newborn.

YOu will be entitled to income support as you will not be expected to jobhunt at this stage of pregnancy (I was made redundant at about 26 weeks), you will get surestart grants etc. Once your LO arrives and you are feeling ready to take on some work you could do Avon or similar and claim tax credits as a self-employed person working 16 hours a week. You can get tzx credits as self-employed if you do several little part time jobs and register as self-employed. Havea chat to the CAB for the precise details. Best of luck.

Ebay.

Sell secondhand anything from your wardrobe, charity shops, wholesale warehouses, the sales..

Tax free. I already rung Inland revenue, they see to think selling your own items is not taxable.

Declaring what you've sold to the Benefits Agency, etc is another matter!

Contact any employment agencies in your area. They may have contacts or even jobs.

Ask your local council to put you in touch with a careers advisor - they're not just for school leavers. You might be able to set up a typing business from home .
