How soon do you get NHS maternity pay?

I got invited to an interview for an NHS job, bit shocked as I didn’t meet all the requirements. Problem is we are literally about to start IVF. How soon would l get any kind of maternity pay from the NHS? I’ve done IVF before and typically it’s more like to not work, than work. So l am reluctant to stick with a job l don’t like, not get pregnant and so not get anything. I’m sick of my current job -l have been doing my own job and part of another role. I now apparently need to start doing another persons role as well, for the next few months. Increasingly l feel taken advantage of and burned out, there is no chance of a promotion or extra pay for my efforts

I work for the civil service, not the NHS, but I'd imagine their maternity policy will be online alongside other policies like their pay and reward policy.

You need to have worked for them at least 1 year at 15 weeks before due date (normally that would be 25 weeks) in my trust to qualify for mat pay. X

If you haven't worked for them for at least a year you still get statutory mat leave pay Smile

@sarahc336 l have been away a while from the NHS -getting on for 1.5 years. I also thought you got statutory from day 1 of service? My fiancée is more optimistic about the IVF working than me, the odds are against us sadly. E.g. last time we were told there was a 95% chance embryo would survive defrost, of course we were in the 5% category where it died during defrost. Personally l would rather have a new job to get my teeth stuck into, to help with my disappointment. Rather than being taken for granted and over-worked in my current role

Yeah you'd get statutory if your in work but your nhs trust would only give you the extra mat leave pay on top of the stator if you'd been with them currently a year by 15weeks before you were due. I'm sure if the ivf worked you could get by on statutory? Not worth not going for either the ivf or the job just for the sake of extra money, good luck xx

@sarahc336 the maternity deal at the current role isn’t that great, it’s only a bit better than NHS statutory

@ThatWouldBeEnough thanks for that. The NHS trust doesn’t have any of their policies on the internet but they’re in agenda for change. I have friends who work in the NHS but don’t want to get into chats about the IVF
