My current job I've had a few yrs is long hours, busy and can be stressful.I love the nature of the work however did feel a sense of relief to go on furlough last March.Back and forth a couple more lockdown.I couldn't see dh when working as I do eves w ends bank hols Xmas Easter mothers day fathers day.
Now I have applied for another position I saw.Less hours but a better rate of pay by a fair bit.
Christmas Easter mums day fathers day and a month off in the summer.
Every evening off every w end off and no worries of furlough as essential worker.
I have my concerns of starting again, probation etc. This will it be too easy I am mid 50s so older but still full of energy.
I can walk away from subtle bullying atmosphere from some at current workplace and face new challenges.
Help me decide as it is the reverse of my old life.
I have only made one wrong move jobwise before and instantly found something else.
Do I take the risk.?I was excited when provisionally offered now I'm in 2 minds.

You were excited - says it all. Go for it. Fear of the new/unknown is what you are currently feeling. But a better work/life balance for more money - and. Away from a bullying culture.
What is there not to like. ?

True.I think the whole rigmarole of references and checks makes me feel like I'm proving myself all over again.
The hourly rate is better but less hours makes it less annually.
I had my jab Friday and I think feel below Par has muddled my thinking.!

Can you take the financial dip? As for references and checks - everyone does those these days. And really all you are doing is providing some points of info/reference. They prospective new employer has the work to do.
Go for it.

The financial dip is 2 grand.
My current role is zero hours so potentially I could be on a dip of hours at any point if my boss or company decide.
We are mortgage free.DH is older than me another reason for considering doing things while we can.
Why is life so difficult 😀

So...money not really a deciding point?

If you’re excited about the idea of the new job go for it. If it makes your heart sink at the prospect- then don’t.

Fwiw, I wish I had listened to my heart, but made a move for more money (not needed but flattered) and it was the worst decision job wise I have ever made. Ironically everyone was telling me that the job would be a brilliant fit for me - it was skill wise. Shame that I absolutely hated the culture and the advertised role didn’t reflect reality at all. Subconsciously I think I knew this at the interviews but decided to ignore the sinking feeling.

You have to do the job, so only you know.

Great advice bargebill19.
When I collected the forms I wondered if listening to small dcs would be too much. But the hours were appealing,I can eat with family and see dh go out occasionally.
Decided not to persue it.
The lady made a couple of attempts to contact me so I progressed with second interview.
All weekend I've been wrestling with the 2 ideas.Ds thinks I should take life easier so does dh.
Perhaps it is just flattery that I could go elsewhere and my initial gut feeling of a total culture change is too much.
