Has anyone used LinkedIN for Site Staff?

I work in education, and we advertise for our site staff (cleaners etc) on eteach, Indeed and the job centre.

Managers have recently suggested I also use LinkedIn - however we have used them in the past for roles and had little success for quite a costly outlay.

Has anyone had success using LinkedIn to advertise for site/cleaning staff?

My experience of LinkedIn has been more successful for roles in eg finance, hr, technology. I haven’t seen much use of it in site staff beyond maybe the more senior facilities management roles?
I would have though your current advertising would be more than sufficient to get a good range of applicants. Are you struggle to attract candidates for those types of roles?

Thank you ATowelAndAPotato - yes that is my feeling too. I feel Indeed is quite a good base to reach a lot of people, particularly those who are not so likely to use LinkedIn in a networking capacity. The managers involved and also one of my team are quite insistent that I am mistaken though, so I thought it would be interesting to see some real world examples.

We do get quite a good response to initial ads. I think that perhaps our application forms may put people off (they are quite lengthy). I wonder if maybe our time may be better spent working on making them less onerous?

It’s easy when designing application forms to include all the questions we can think of, rather than focusing on what we need to know to decide whether to interview or not.

I think some end up being over-designed as we try to reduce numbers of interviews so if you can simplify anything that can only be a good thing.

I do feel application processes should reflect the nature of the role; if you don’t need a degree in rocket science to do the job, you shouldn’t need one to fill out the application form either!
