999 call handler interview - any advice?

Hi,

I have an interview as a 999 call handler on Thursday. I have passed the assessment centre section of it so now it's just a 'face-to-face' interview left. It's a role I really want.

Has anyone had an interview experience for a similar position or relevant advice they might be able to share with me?

I have worked in management for a contact centre for the last five years and have a lot of transferrable skills I feel - but I don't know which ones to focus on.

Thanks in advance!

I'm a nurse and I used to work for 111, which is a similar role.

Familiarise yourself with the ambulance service's mission statement.
You need to be able to talk and type at the same type. You need to be able to acknowledge within seconds whether the call is an emergency requiring an immediate response, or whether the caller can be directed to other services - GP, pharmacist, GUM clinic etc. You need to be able to be reassuring and supportive over the phone.

The interview questions are likely to be situational ones. Google will give you some examples of questions and also the algorithms that are used for different health issues.

Good luck, I hope you smash it!
