New job after redundancy

I'm being made redundant from a job I have been in for 20 years and got my finish date as end June. I have no idea what to do!! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm lacking inspiration, this has been my first job from leaving uni and with the whole covid thing I'm feeling really nervous about it all! It's a small company i work for (I started there originally to get office experience but have ended up staying until now) doing logistics and other office admin work. I've been looking at other office based jobs but haven't got any of the qualifications they ask for, should I just apply anyway or am I wasting everyone's time? Just after some advice if anyone else has any similar experience. Thanks for any replies/ inspiration!

Are you on LinkedIn? I’d have a look on there at jobs also good to look at other peoples bios to see what their career track looks like and to get ideas for how you might move. I’ve worked in recruitment for 15 years happy to give advice. The job market is on the up so stay positive x

If you are in UK apply for contributions based job seekers allowance via www.gov.uk

Your redundancy payment is not taken into account for a certain time period

I have applied for and got jobs that I didn't have the required qualifications for, because I had relevant experience instead. So I wouldn't discount jobs because of this.

Is it possible to start working towards these qualifications between now and June?

Worth having a chat with a recruitment agency if there’s a local one in your field.

I bet over the 20 years you have more transferrable skills and more valuable experience than you realise! I would take some time to write down your current responsibilities, what tasks you have done over the years, and then break it down further into what skills this demonstrates. There will be a lot of office based jobs that don't ask for qualifications, if they just ask for experience, then as long as it's not on a very specific system, I am sure you can relate yours back to it. There is usually a demand for logistic type jobs in the civil service if you live near any offices, or if you wanted to build your confidence in applying back up, perhaps approach an agency to do some temp work for a bit?

Thanks for the replies. I seen some finance jobs which I think I'd quite like to do but don't have any experience or qualifications. I've looked at doing a book keeping / finance based course online (new skills academy) but wasn't sure if these actually count for anything? Thanks for your help and advise x

With 20 years experience I wouldn't worry about the quals office based roles are asking for. Just apply and see what happens.
