Not feeling it in my new job how long before apply for other jobs.....

I was miserable in my last job due to alot of stress and pressure. I've now started a new job and I am not liking the culture. They all seem lovely but I've heard a few bitchy comments which signal warning bells and they also don't seem as supportive as they first appeared which initially attracted me to the job. They also seem to be quite laid back on paper work which is the complete opposite to my previous job. I am really not feeling it and can't see myself staying there but I am not financially able to leave. I've only been there 2mths but typically have seen a few potential jobs advertised but I am worried about applying as not been in my new job long enough so worried this will not look for furture employer. How long should I stick this job out before applying for something else?

Straight away. You don’t even need to put this on your CV as it hasn’t been long.

OK thank you, feel bad that they've just paid for my dbs although my 3mth probation isn't up yet!

They wouldn't hesitate to end your employment if they felt it wasn't a good fit, there's no need for you to feel guilty. I've been stuck in a similar situation for 16m. I'd start looking straight away as the pandemic is making the job search even harder.

Also just to add, you're in a fairly good situation where it sounds like your work isn't as terrible as the last place. So you don't have to jump ship, take your time to make sure your next role is the right one for you.

I am in a similar position. I was in a miserable job and left with a package. I have started a new job just last week. I like the people but the job itself seems too easy so far and I am finding myself twiddling my thumbs already.
I am making some suggestions as to other things I could do but I need the involvement of other members of the team to get those ideas off the ground. However, I'm being told everyone is very busy on a particular other task and I have to wait til they are finished.
I thought I wanted something easy after my previous experience but it seems I like a bit of stress after all (not too much though).
So I'm already looking at what else is out there!
I do feel guilty though!

Thank you everyone. Jabba it's so difficult isn't it especially with covid as normally you would visit the workplace before to get a proper feel. I think I'm undecided what I want to do and slightly regret my leaving my last job purely because I was settled although not overly happy but I ha d a nice team just rubbish employer.

@Meltinthemiddle I don't really have any advice as such but just wanted to say I'm in the same situation! Could have written your original post. Finished a temp contract and went straight onto another one, which I know I'm lucky to have got in a pandemic. I can do the technical side of the job very easily, but the side that requires business and customer specific knowledge is really hard to get when WFH. Keep wondering how long before I can jump ship or whether to stick it out. Could you pass your current role off as a temporary contract if still in probation??

I'd start applying elsewhere straight away, but they don't all have to be 100% genuinely lovely and supportive for it to be tolerable. It sounds more like it's not what you hoped rather than that it's absolutely terrible. You can bear it til you get the next job.
