NHS Bank working

Hi,
Does anyone do bank work for the NHS (i.e Healthcare worker, Clinical Support Worker etc)? If so, I would just like to know how flexible you can be with hours... for instance can you choose to work during school times?
Also, how much work are you actually able to pick up?
Thanks in advance!

I used to work on the NHS bank but I can only speak about my experiences in my area as I’m sure other NHS Nurse Bank do things differently.

Working on the Bank gave me brilliant flexibility and I was able to pick and choose my shifts. This was very useful because I had two Young children and one of them with special needs so stress levels would peak rapidly meaning that working would be very difficult. I used to do a nightshift four times a month, mostly on a Friday or Saturday to work around my husbands shifts and I never had any difficulty getting any work. I would book the shift online.

The policy in my area was that you had to do at least one shift every six months to stay on the Nurse Bank but in reality they were struggling for staff so I was able to go just over a year before they would ask me when I would do another shift.

I enjoyed working on the Nurse Bank and it gave me a lot of flexibility whilst the kids were young.
