Do you trust childminders or family to look after your child

Hi I'm in part time work that allows me to only work when I can. But now my daughter is 5 I need more hours but I'm worrying about who will look after her when the school is not open.
I really don't like the idea of having a stranger look after. But my family work too and have other stuff to do so I can't expect them to have her.
Any ideas on what to do or what do you do?

Also I worked out how much it'd be and I'd be working just to pay childcare. I'd get about £25 left a week Shock

I became a childminder when I was in your position as working wasn't worth it at all. That way I was about for dd and earnt money doing school runs

That's good, how did you start doing that?

Hi, I am a childminder and became one when my own children were small, it worked well for me at the time but I am now leaving to work in an office as they are 12 and 10 and it no longer works for us as a family. It is hard work and does impact on your family life so I would think very carefully before going down this route, how you thought about arranging a meeting with a few childminders or looking at the schools before and after school club to see if that helps ease your worries of childcare. You can get help with childcare costs through the tax free childcare scheme, you pay in 80% and the government pays the remaining 20%.
