Tax rebate on uniform

SequinsAndGlitter · 11/02/2021 17:42

For years I had to wear a uniform. Yet I got made redundant at the end of last year. Am I still entitled to claim back the money for the tax rebate on my uniform I used to wear?

Yes you can backdate an expense claim for four years.

Aprilx · 11/02/2021 18:22

*Assuming you paid tax in those years of course.

I did.
Do you know how I go about this? When I tried on the government website, it kept asking for a gateway username?

There are a few options as explained here. Personally, I would sign up for an account and do it online. Online will be processed more quickly.

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't think I am entitled after all as I did not earn 1,000 a month which I read you have to do in order to make a claim.

Are you sure about that £1000? £1000 is one of the thresholds for methods of how you can claim

Check the questionnaire here:

I don’t know what you are specifically reading as I don’t have an account so can’t get past the first page.

You need to be a tax payer as I mentioned initially. If you did not earn on average £1000 a month then you would not have been a tax payer since 2019 when it exceeded this amount.
