Interview... Do I need to / should I tell them I'm pregnant?

I have an interview tomorrow for a part time admin role. The role is only temp until the end of June, however I am pregnant. Not due until August which is why I'm hoping I get it as the timing etc works out well. I'm only just 12 weeks so I know I technically don't NEED to tell them, but should I? And at what point? The work is flexible so could easily arrange appointments and work around each other. Just wondering what would be for the best. It's WFH too so likely hood of them ever seeing me IRL would be little.

Seen as temp to June I wouldn't

mistletoeandsigh · 11/02/2021 17:10

Nope. I'd tell them once I started, in case I needed to arrange appointments with midwives etc.

Congrats and hope you get the job

No!! Even 8f they don't mean to discriminate, they can't unknow that and I'm sure there'll be a candidate who they won't be worried will need days for appointments or might need extra suck days etc.

Don't tell them.

No. Please don’t. It’s completely irrelevant.
Also I would only tell them them when you need to.

Thank you all. I had the same thoughts that you all did, sometimes you just need someone to confirm your thinking lol.

Don't tell them - they aren't allowed to factor it into their decision anyway.

Do be aware though that after 28 weeks you will be considered clinically extremely vulnerable and (currently) that means you wouldn't be able to physically go to work. Obviously hoping this will have eased by then and it would be your employer's responsibility to make this work flexibly for you. Just worth bearing in mind as could make things tricky depending on the requirements of the role and some employer's are a lot better at respecting the guidance than others!

As this is a temp job ending in June and you’re due August, plus WFH and flexible on time (so you won’t need time off for appointments etc) then no need to tell them

My opinion Would be very different if it were full time permanent role.
