I have an interview Monday morning for the role of health care assistant in my local hospital, it’s on Microsoft teams with two people on the panel.

I’ve wanted to work in the nhs for quite a while, but some thing or other always got in the way, I decided last month nows the right time to apply and received an invitation for interview, from the first application I applied for wooo!

I’ve tried to do some research, but I have no idea how to prepare myself or what they’ll ask. I’ve always been really rubbish in interviews!

Does anybody have any tips? They’d be greatly appreciated! Thank you x

There’s a HCP thread. If you post over there you may get some tips from someone in the role? Good luck with the interview

I was an HCA years ago (now a nurse) The role involves basic patient care such as washing and feeding, maintains fluid balance charts, performing observations and collecting samples. Things that might come up include respecting a patients privacy and dignity, confidentiality, teamwork, and communicating things like a patients deterioration in health to their named nurse. Signs can be subtle and you will often be the person to spot them first. Things like a patient suddenly becoming confused or less alert, their respiratory rate or temp going up, BP going down, a drop in urine output which is a sign that there’s a problem with renal function. Good luck.

Thank you! I’ve been working in care for quite a while, but a few people have told me, the interview questions are quite different for the nhs so I’ve gone into panic mode! Lol I’m going to write down some answers of things they may ask and just keep going over them x
