Civil Service Maternity Leave

I have been a civil servant for more than five years. In August, I interviewed for and was offered a new role in another civil service department on promotion. However, due to a series of delays on the part of the recruiting team, I am still waiting for a start date and contract. I have recently discovered that I am pregnant and the baby is due in July. I know that there is continuity of service when transferring between government departments but can anyone confirm whether I will be entitled to the full 26 weeks' maternity pay if I transfer departments whilst pregnant? I am not likely to start the new role before the end of February.

I'm also a civil servant currently on maternity leave. They can't refuse you to have maternity leave, it's policy. You will still be entitled to your 26 weeks full pay.

That's a relief, thank you!

I would ask for a copy of the policy to double check, in case they have any other terms. I requested it out of interest and found there was another clause in the policy. It could just be my new dept. is a bit older. I didn't expect a clause to be present in the policy. I had the same situation

26 weeks?! It's only 13 weeks full pay for the Northern Ireland Civil Service.
