Hi there

I was hoping someone might be able to tell me a little bit about council budgets and whether I would be wasting my time attempting this? I'm trying not to be too outing, but I work in a women-focused healthcare role, and also have a business providing antenatal and post-natal support, in a online capacity (useful in these corona days!). I understand that local councils now have more responsibility for healthcare/teenage pregnancy/child outcomes etc, and was hoping to work in partnership with them. Are all councils set up the same? Is there a person/role I should specifically try to get in touch with?

Thanks in advance!

Hi I think that you need to contact public health.. but not all councils have public health under their remit itmay be ypur local NHS trust.
But tbh most councils are totally cash strapped and have cut discretionary funding to the bone. So whilst you maybe able to partner if they think your company is a fit, you are very unlikely to get any funding..

To the point where our local council ( I dont work for them any longer) had to cut support services for teenage parents and what little there is, is now run by outside organisations. Our local YMCA runs youth services and housing / training for teen mothers .. might be worth contacting your local office

This is another thing that falls to schools. You might be better contacting schools directly, although they are very short of cash too, if you can show value for money, there are budgets for PSHE interventions.
