Hi there NC for this. sorry long. I work helping low income people, public sector but 3-year funding round, currently year 2, my post a tad vulnerable. I was close with job share, downloading as stressful at times (clients with mh, food bank referrals etc). 18 months ago job share leaves for role in a higher up council with over-arching view of all the district councils. I only cover 2 of 7. There was a hoo ha as a new very senior manager (my immediate manager got cut) was really awful to me so i left and went to a different local authority, so I now just cover one local authority.
Since then my old employer has re-employed my old post and I am happier, new team new boss. 2 local authorities now have these posts, all good. 5 still don't however. My ex job share has tried her hardest to ensure that ALL district authorities get the help I provide via different schemes and charities. BUT this has involved a blanket approach, undermining mine and my new equivalent's (in the old place) at every stage. eg publicizing the new service, not ours, giving her time to them, not including us in websites, eg
"theres a great new service covering the WHOLE of the area, it's a 1-stop shop" with no mention of me or my equivalent at all. if you know how councils work the minute they see double funding, this is baaad. also people are not being helped properly as the new service is genuinely crap.
Anyway that went away for being crap but I felt awful she would do that, I was working every day during the pandemic despite being part time and dealing with stuff on my own - I remember one time she went to the seaside with her DC and something urgent came in at her level and I had to sort it out (3 kids at home).
Anyway I tried to forget about it all and move on, we have a lovely chat about our kids and what's going on in our lives in December.
Now she has got ANOTHER new joint service with a very well known charity (I originally made the contact) and has virtually lifted parts of my job description to describe what they will do in the press release. I spoke to her about this and she said it was because I don't work full-time and this way there would be crisis cover. Weirdly she phoned me last Friday (non working day, personal mobile) asking for help. She also said it was also because my managers hadn't stepped up when the hoo ha happened 18 months ago, also strange as she didn't even bother to include my new manager in the email about the launch of the new service. I have to say I vented to new manager who was hurt.
She told me the new service is exactly the same idea I had 2 years ago which she rejected. Now I am being asked about the new service, by senior colleagues whether the tell our front desk when members of the public call; managers are wondering about why they are funding me and colleagues are telling me it's a threat to my role.
advice please
