Waitressing. Honestly, if waiting tables paid decently I would happily have done it my whole life.

Brown76 · 11/01/2021 14:25

Receptionist. Busy all day, involves organising and also people skills, impossible to take work home, find out all the gossip.

I also waitressed in The US in a red neck restaurant in a red neck resort and it was an eye opener to say the least

I worked in our price for the summer before I started uni. We got to play whatever we wanted aside from the new releases that has to be played at set times. It makes me think of a carefree time in my life.

Chambermaid and waitressing in late teens/uni.

Hands down the best jobs ever. Hard work but always busy so time flew. Great colleagues, laid back bosses and no mental strain, just aching muscles/feet at the end of a shift.

If I was single and childless with no mortgage I would love to work as a waitress again, in a National Trust tearoom preferably!
Also quite liked working on the till (another studeng job). Some customers were a pain in the neck but most were lovely.

Many years ago, I worked as a costumed "performer" staff in a heritage centre (being intentionally vague here). Got paid to tell stories and do weapon demonstrations to visitors (you know, wave swords, show off axe, spear etc ) Grin Grin Loved it!

Another waitressing one here at a busy bistro. My favourite was being the sole barista (it was a rota system so one waitress gets to be the barista and they always gave it to me when they could)

The one I'm on now.School midday supervisor.An hour a days work.Love it.

Same but school I'm at has 2 lunch sittings so I do a couple of hours a day. Lovely colleagues, great kids. Just want things back to normal though Sad

Kitchen designer for an account only trade business.

Basic pay was crap, but incentives and bonuses were good.

Crates of beer, bottles of wine, completely free work nights out.......

Customers were generally really friendly and good banter.

The work was like playing TETRIS all day to make pretty pictures !

Record shop in London. £2.50 an hour, loads of free albums, gigs and friends I still have now!

On my gap year, I could Ski to work at a Canadian mtn cafe, if you had the later start you could be on the lift before public & ski over to the back of the Mtn to get to work. If you were on early finish you could ski for a couple hours for free in the afternoon. Used to make enormous tuna sandwiches & bake huge trays of cookies and get one for snack time. As the only Brit I used to get lots of tips on the till.
