Happy new year everyone first of all 🍾
Need your opinions on OHs employers. I won’t give too much info in them for fear of outing, but in essence I don’t think they are doing enough to protect their employers. They offer a key service and most workers have worked non stop since March. However the employers have bought in no restrictions at all and expect them to work at very close range without any form of PPE from them. They are all crammed in to small spaces and the people on the job can change daily so you can’t even form a bubble type thing in your workplace. One day you could be with one team of 3 or 4 and the next day with completely different people. OH does not want to make a fuss, WWYD I am worried out of my mind for them all

I would look up the health and safety executive and see what they say

If they've been breaking the rules for the last 9 months, then yes you should probably report to the local council. They'll look into it.

Pinkandwrinkly · 01/01/2021 00:26

Do they have temperature checks on the way in every day, or sanitising stations, a one way system, limits on the amount of people in rest rooms etc?
I think they should be reported and inspected because employers have a duty of care.

Neither of us want to get anyone in trouble, more to ensure safety. I never thought of H & S so thank you.

Hmm my Husbands employers handed out letters last week telling them not to wear masks and the dangers of doing so, then yesterday morning made it mandatory! He also has ever changing bubbles.

Jalfreziqueen · 01/01/2021 00:29

@glitterelf Oh gosh what are the dangers of wearing masks? Feel sorry for your husband

Is he in a Union? If not the best bet is to get together with some of the other workers and the line manager and make some formal suggestions about better working practices. It would probably be welcomed by the managers.

@Jalfreziqueen I've no idea what his employers are playing at. I haven't read the letter but find it funny how we move up to tier 4 and masks are a must. Most of them have worn them religiously so they've ignored the letter.
