Clinical coding errors

Hi ,I recently had my blood pressure checked by the nurse at my GPs surgery and she happened to remark 'so I see form your file that you are a drug user'. I was absolutely stunned,(I am most definitely not) she said there was a code that has labelled me a drug user on my medical file. For the last 10 years I could not figure out why I was bening treated so disgustingly by GP'S, now it makes sense. They NEVER treat any of my health complaints and I could not figure out why, it has made me feel so gaslighted by GP'S and even the reception staff. My treatment by them has been appalling. Can someone tell me what code they have used? I have had to go private to deal with my untreated health problems even though I am not in work at the moment because of the prejudiced care I have experienced. Please help!

I think it’s very important that you complain about this situation. I would ask to speak to the Practice Manager and also put your complaint in writing. If you look on Which consumer website it has advice about how to complain about NHS GP surgeries.

Make a subject access request for your entire medical records prior to writing to the practice manager to complain.
Bring up the manner in which you have been treated, and the face that nobody has discussed this with you until now. This is very shoddy conduct.
Under GDPR you have the right to amend your notes - but not to have the error removed (I have similar issues in my own medical records).

Fact not face (typo)

This doesn't make sense. Those with drug addiction issues are still treated in the NHS. First you need to establish exactly what your records state and, if the information is erroneous, ask for it to be corrected. You can also find out when the information was inputted.

For what reason have you had to seek private treatment, did you ask your GP why appropriate treatment was not available through the NHS? It's a big leap from an error on your records to being refused care. Was this treatment routinely offered to other patients?

My care has also been dreadful because of untrue information which was entered into my medical notes. Nobody discussed it with me, or checked that it was true, but it has been repeated by other professionals and gas had a massive impact on my medical care.
I found out inadvertently when I saw something odd on screen and made a subject access request...

Yes it does make sense! People are discriminated against by medical professionals regularly, you live in a fantasyland if you think this does not happen! I am rapidly losing weight ( muscle and fat ) and my Gp has stated that im looking for answers were there are none . No line of investigation is ever followed through on , they dont even talk to me on the phone, I have to get there opinion through the receptionist . You would think you could get covid over the phone! Please put some reasonable thought in to your replys rather than ill informed prejudement.

Thanks I will do that . I urgently need treatment now ,so that comes first. I moved GPs because of this terrible treatment only to get the same neglegent treatment at my new Gp's. I feel that my mental health is hanging by a thread due to the disgusting treatment ( or lack of it) . Sorry to hear you have suffered this horrible treatment too.

Can I just say your treatment had you been addicted to drugs should have been the same regardless - it should have been excellent. It is not a Health Care professional's job to judge patients.

I had mental health problem recorded on my medical records incorrectly - when I raised a compliant requesting they be removed as it wasn't accurate, they stated on my records, we have removed mental health issue from patient's record as patient was very distressed and anxious about having it recorded and denied they had suffered from it. Bastards made me sound like I was on the brink of a nervous breakdown and delusional and in no way was that erasing a false entry. Shower of bastards!

Thanks ,that resource is very useful. Ill request my records to find out what im up against.

I'm so sorry, they are arrogant bastards! That make it worse! That is gas lighting! They obviously are avoiding admitting liability.Im stuned! The medical profession never admit they get anything wrong!
