I am unhappy with one aspect of the way my daughter's childminder looks after her. It's nothing very serious but as she has only been there three times I want to address the issue I have before time goes on. Does anyone have any suggestions of how this can be done tactfully/sensitively? - I don't want to get off on the wrong foot as our relationship will be an important one for both my daughter and me.

I must add that I am completely happy with the childminder in every other aspect.

what kind of thing is it Sven? I think it very much depends on the issue and the kind of person she is - did you get her through personal recommendation?

As a childminder, and a nanny ( of 16 years exp) I would want a parent to be upfront about anything that they were not happy with. I know it can be difficult to broach the subject, don't worry, it works both ways - I've had to say something to a parent about something I am not happy with.

It all depends what it is, I would probably start by saying... I am sure that this is just something silly, but it's bothering me a little, or

I know this might sound as though I am fussing, or an anxious parent, but I am a little worried/concerned about.....

I always always stress to parents, please please tell me if something bothers you or you are not happy about. Good relationships are based on trust, honesty and understanding. If you don't do anything soon, it will bother you more and more and soon you will possibly feel resentful towards your childminder and this could affect your opinion of the childminder and rub off on your daughter.

You must be happy about the care your daughter recieves, you are paying for a service and you should get what you pay for. HTH
