Civil Service - Employment Following Dismissal

I was dismissed from the Civil Service in 2019 on health grounds (anxiety).

I have been offered a new role, completely different type of work, close to home, no drama, but didn’t realise the new role’s security clearance is overseen by a civil service department, and I have to disclose my dismissal.

I’m happy to do this, but it’s a small organisation and my cousin works there, and doesn’t know what happened in previous role or about my previous mental health issues. I’m wondering if, once I disclose the information can it be passed onto the hiring manager? (And possibly my cousin).

It'll be an HR thing. If there's complications HR manager would discuss it with manager of the department so see if the issues are resolvable or if your wouldnt be offered the job.
No one outside if HR/manager would be told so if your cousin found it, the person who told them would be in trouble.

I had MH issues for 8 years and had to complete a health declaration for the civil service, I was interviewed by a medical professional who asked me about my MH, what if any treatment I'd had, how I was, how did I manage my issues. Its no big deal.

If its the health declaration you may be called for an interview with a CS medical who will assess you and how you are, how you manage your health. I completed the form and was interviewed. Its used to make sure you're fit to work and they tick a box. No big deal.

Will you be classed as a civil servant if given the role? There are usually rules against re-hiring those who have been dismissed.

Hi, is there a blanket ban for life on re-rercruitment to the civil service after dismissal (for any reason), and if so where is the rule/policy or is it unwritten? I reapplied 10 years after dismissal, but don't know what to put in the pre-check about what happened. Can they find out through internal checks if you were dismissed 10 years ago? If I disclose it, they won't pass my checks and offer me the new job. But it wasn't my fault. I dont know what to say in the form. I'd like to see the policy and understand if there is any chance of me getting the new job now or not, and whether to withdraw?
Thank you!

There’s not- only if dismissed for fraud they’ll be on a central list. Dismissed for medical inefficiency you can be re-employed

It would be a breach of confidentiality if your cousin was told. You’d be contacted by occ health for a discussion if you declare anything but it’s purely to ensure they can put in reasonable adjustments if needed. It really isn’t something you need to worry about.

Thank you - I'm a different OP from the one above: the Previous Civil Service employment section asks if you've 'ever been dismissed from the civil service (Y/N)', the reason why, and details (optional). So if I disclose will they contact my old employer from 10-15 yrs ago and check? If I don't disclose, will they check anyway with the previous civil service employer?
They dismissed for the usual blanket term 'inefficiency' after I raised a protected disclosure, but I've no idea if they still have records of this or not.
Other departments keep records of dismissals for medical inefficiency/other for 85 years so why wouldn't they? If so, will the pre-check not pick up the dismissal from that check anyway? And then should I disclose it or not, it was 19 yrs ago?

Thank you again

They’ll have records still so I imagine it would come up- although I don’t know how much is put in a reference they are normally very factual ie dates of employment. I’d be honest and actually 10 years is a long time. You may not have been fit to work back then which led to inefficiency but that’s a long time for someone to get better/get a condition under control to a point they can effectively work.
ive seen people told when they are dismissed for this reason (and have previously been a good worker) that they would be happy for them to reapply in the future if they are well enough
