Accepting a job offer while pregnant - WWYD?

Okay, so I was contacted by an ex colleague of mine about a month ago and have now received a job offer from a company I used to work at (where he still is). It's essentially the job I did before but more exciting and better management which is why I left last time. I left after I ended my maternity leave with my now toddler. I'm now stuck on what to do because 2 weeks ago I found out that I'm pregnant and obviously no one knows at this stage nor will they know until the 12 week mark due to previous miscarriages. I currently work in the hospitality sector where my hours have just been cut back and I could potentially face redundancy in the near future. The new job offer sounds perfect and I would love to go back and I also know that my job would be secure and safe should we go into another lockdown. It also offers a higher salary. The only issue I have is that they already funded my maternity leave before and I think they might be a bit pissed if I take the job and then in about 6 weeks announce that I'm pregnant and will have to take some time off. I'm really torn and I wish I could just take it but I know they will be cross. So I guess my question is - what would you do if you were in my position?

  1. Check out maternity policies- you may not be eligible for enhanced pay if you’ve not been there long enough.
  1. Work out if this is a deal breaker for you financially
  1. Say nothing
  1. Take the job.

I've rejected a job before because found out I was pregnant, only then having a miscarriage. I still regret it 🙈 But the company you describe as " being cross" for pregnancy doesn't sound very nice. Also pp advice is very sound!

Thank you for replying @AppleKatie .

I probably should have made it clearer in my OP that I'm very much aware that I wouldn't get maternity pay if I accepted this job. I'm happy enough with SMP if that means that I have a job to come back to which at my current job I might not (that's if I make it that far in this industry)

Thank you @Coffee4me. I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

I don't know that they would be cross for sure but I am really worried that they will simply not be happy with only just having taken me on.

In which case take the job.

What would you do if you were about to become a father? do that.
