Am I being made redundant?

I have been employed by a company for 1.5 years In a management role.

I've been on furlough since March, I recently contacted the company to ask if there was any plan for my return to work, and the directors phoned me to tell me that due to a downturn in revenue due to Coronavirus they are reshuffling the department, one of the directors will take on my responsibilities and I am no longer needed so they are letting me go. I saw this coming and am fine about it, I'm happy to go.

They never said the word redundant, just letting go. They're giving me 2 months notice pay + accrued annual leave as per my contract.

Is this redundancy? The only reason it matters is that I read that redundancy payments are tax exempt, and if I can save a little money that way It would obviously be very helpful, but when I asked one of the directors about this he said he 'wasnt aware' and didn't seem inclined to look into it.

Would be good to know if that exemption should apply here so I know whether to push for it.

Thanks!

You've worked there less than 2 years so you're not entitled to redundancy pay.

Sadly, as there less than two years they can just let you go, no redundancy, no questions asked, and no come back. Sorry this has happened

Ah ok, no worries! I'm happy to receive the 2 months+holiday and know I'm more fortunate than some.

Thanks for clarifying!
