To ask what time you leave in the morning and arrive home in the eve?

I'm just curious. I work full time mon to fri, I leave at 6:15 to arrive at work a bit before 8:00. Then leave work at 17:00 to arrive home around 18:45. Worrying that my commute time is affecting my focus at work. My friends and family think I'm mad but I've always thought it were normal. Does any one else travel for 1hr 45 mins (or around this) each way for work?

I leave the house at 7.10am, arrive at work 8.30am. Leave the office at 4.30pm and it’s around 6.30 by the time I get back. Did this for a year and a half before going into lockdown...the whole time kept telling myself “I need to find a more local job!!!” My previous job I’d leave the house at 8.15am and be back by 4.45pm. Been WFH since March. I think when we go back is when I’ll call it a day. Go back on the staff bank at my last place if I don’t find something more local in the meantime. Would have been happy to go back 2 days a week, WFH the rest of the week, but since I now have boss from hell, it’s the final straw.

We all leave at 8.20am. I drop both my DD's to nursery and my eldest DD to my parents and then head to work. My eldest DD walks to school from my parents home at 8.40am so she's there for about 10/15 mins. Our home, my parents home, my DD's school and my DD's nursery are all within a 3 min radius. By 8.30am all 3 are dropped off, work is roughly 15 minutes away so I arrive around 8.45am. Finish at 5pm and collect all the children by 5.30pm. DP works from home most days now so he does the drop off sometimes so then I leave at 8.40am and get home at 5.20pm, there isn't any traffic on the way. Prior to Mat Leave I was stationed at a hospital further out, only 25 mins though lol. More than 30 mins each way for me would be a stretch, I wouldn't want to be +30 mins away from the children in case of an emergency!!

Pre covid I would leave at 6:20 before anyone else was our of bed. This would miss peak traffic and get me in office for 6:50 instead of a commute over 1hr I would leave at 15:45 again to miss peak traffic and be home for 16:20. WFH on a Friday.

Approx a 40hr week (contracted for 35), but don't mind as flexible timings and WFH on Friday with an earlier finish mean I have a good work/life balance.

I live 5 mins walk to work
I leave at about 7:45am to walk DS to the lights for the bus then I go to a café & supermarket before work, get to work at 9, I finish work at 5 and am home by 5 past.

My work is a bog standard admin office job and although there is 0 excitement my 5 min commute is what keeps me going

My commute these days is ten minutes. Back in my working in London days it was anything up to 90 minutes, which was far too long. It's one of the reasons I left, I couldn't do it any longer. Quality of life is now much better.

Current commute from bed to sofa - about 45 seconds.

However before lockdown I left the house at 5.15am to be on the train by 5.45am, got to London around 7.15am, across to Westminster by bus and in the office by 8 usually. In reverse, left the office around 4, got train around 5.20pm, back at local station for 6.30pm-ish, then home by 7pm. On a good night with no train delays.

Man, I love working from home.

You're not a burglar are you? Confused

Leave at 7:45 get to work for 8:20/25ish
Leave work between 5-6pm takes another 40min to get home

It used to be 1hour - 1:15 on the way in and 2 - 2:30 on the way home (train delays / too crowded to get on). I didn't realise how awful it was until I started working from home during covid. WfH has been revolutionary in my house.... not only do I get 3-4 hours of my life back each day, my family realise how hard I work & so have been doing much more of the housework.

10 minute drive 25 minute walk

7:30 to be at work at 8:15 and leave at 4:30 to be at home at 5:15.

I cycle so it's an enjoyable commute and I don't have to spend time in the gym.
