Second chance at job help! NHS role

I interviewed for a NHS admin position back in June which I didn’t get. Feedback was positive that I interviewed well but there was a few high scoring applicants and unfortunately I wasn’t chosen that time. Disappointing but it is what it is!

I got a phone call from them last week to say that things hadn’t worked out with person that got the job and was I still interested! I said yes and they advised that the role would be advertised again and they would like me to reapply! I have reapplied now and closing date is next week. I imagine they have also contacted the other high scoring applicants that interviewed at the same time as me so still lots of competition. Is this something that happens regularly in the NHS? I’m a bit worried why things didn’t work out with the other person! They can’t have been in the role long as it was mid June that we interviewed! Feeling a bit nervous about it!

Hi there.

I'm in the process of a applying for P/T admin jobs in the NHS. These jobs are very popular for sure.

It could be that the chosen candidate accepted the job but got a better offer elsewhere? I don't know if the job you speak of is full or part time but maybe they were, for example, really wanting p/t hours but applying for anything going, then quickly realised f/t was not going to suit them?

I think there's a few reasons why it may have happened. There's always quite a lot of movement around the hospitals. Department hopping, etc. If there's nothing to lose, then I don't see why you shouldn't reapply.

I interviewed for a job at the same time as you (from earlier post). I was told I was successful on 26th June and still haven't had a start date. I could still not take the job (I won't do that) but can see how some people might. The good thing is I have now negotiated a redundancy package instead of resigning and hopefully will get started with the NHS soon.

So the short answer is maybe it's as simple as their first choice changed their mind.
