Can I ask a q about contracted hours

This situation has come up today and I'm a bit mystified.
Imagine a company's working week runs from 0730 Sun to 0730 Sun. I work 2 x 10 hr shifts on Sun and Mon overnight, finish Tues morning and am back in on Sat night for another 10hr shift. Should my contract say I work 25 or 30hrs?

What breaks do you get in your ten hour shift? If it's an hour, then you do 27 hours.

Depends could be 25 if it’s only every second Saturday as presumable it’s 10 hours of Sunday into Monday, 10 hours of Monday into Tuesday and 5 hours on the Saturday with the other 5 hours actually being Sunday morning of the next week. But if that’s the case then the next week then you’d have the 5 hours from the Sunday, the 20 hours from Sunday and Monday night and then 5 from the Saturday again would be 30.

Would t the working week be Sunday to Saturday?

It really would depend on breaks as said above because they are usually unpaid.

Thanks for replies.

There are no official breaks. You are always on call, it's a care service so 24/7. You are the only staff awake. The rota moves forward a day a week, so it's 2 on/4 off. But every calendar week you work 3 shifts of 10 hours.

It doesn't matter whether it is a care service or not. The law says that you must have a break, which may not be paid, in any shift longer than six hours. So without knowing what that break is - whether you take it or not - nobody can answer your question except the employer. Instead of setting hypothetical questions, you could try telling us what the dispute is. Because there's clearly a dispute going on here. And also how long you have worked there.

It's not calendar weeks it's worked out on.

Your company will have a start of the week day, my company's is Sunday to Saturday.

So if you work Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, each bring a ten hour shift, then it will be 30 hours minus the lawful breaks.

Whether you take those breaks on time or choose not to take them is irrelevant, the breaks will be unpaid.
