Forced corona virus tests at work. (24 hour operation)

Everyone has a test on Tuesday. (results on the Sat) Fine
On Wed retesting arranged for the Friday (results on the Tuesday)
Unless you attend the Fri test you will not be allowed into work
and your pay docked.
Ok so most comply but are going into work with no results so they
could have the virus and may not know till the Tues (unless they have
symptoms of course) or catch it from someone else.
Is this just a reasonable management order or what?

Nope they can't force you to take a test

canigooutyet · 09/08/2020 13:42

Couldn't it be gotten around like some places do for random drug testing?

LOVELYDOVEY05 · 10/08/2020 08:21

So it is my choice whether I take a test or not. Regardless of whether
the others have or have not .
Also if I have not taken the test could they refuse to work with me?
Although the results do not come out for a few days?

I'm perplexed how anyone can assert that they can't make you take a test without knowing anything about the circumstances. Many employers certainly can make you take a test.

The bottom line is that if you refuse to comply with reasonable health and safety instructions you can be disciplined, and depending on your contractual terms they can refuse to offer you work or possibly suspend you without pay.

I'd lay bets that if you are in a workplace testing weekly them you are in a care or health setting. In which case I'd also lay bets that refusing to test is a dismissal situation and no tribunal at this time would say otherwise. In any other setting, they'd probably have to warn you before dismissal, but I doubt ANY tribunal would support the right to refuse a coronavirus test at the moment.

Here in ireland. Some
Companies who have had a few cases close and test all staff and stay closed until the results are back.
Anyone who doesn't wasn't to be tested is of course welcome to stay off unpaid.
