How to become a maternity support worker?!

Hi everyone, really really interested in becoming a maternity support worker! Especially since having my little boy.

I've been back at work since January from being on maternity leave and it's just made me realise my job just isn't for me anymore. I've been there nearly 8 years and I've got everything I can out of it.

I don't even know where to start with looking/applying for this role. What qualifications would I need? Do I need to go to college or uni or anything?

Hi,

Have a look on the NHS jobs website.
Depending on the banding you may not need any specific qualifications others than gcse maths and English. Also experience with baby's and mothers (which you technically have because of your personal experience as a mother)
I return to my Trust in October from maternity leave and will become a maternity support worker x

@jadealisha thanks so much for replying!!!

I'll have a look on the nhs website. If that fails would it help to do a health and social care course?

Hi, no worries.

I was just going to reply no, however I feel I didn't need that specific qualification because I have maternity experience ( working within women's health physiotherapy) and already work for the NHS so I have some form of knowledge in regards to pregnancy related issues (PGP, postnatal fecal and urinal continence, diastasis recti and perineal tears etc), all clerical rather than clinical however, so that worked in my favour I suppose. So yes, d you have any heath care related qualifications at the moment and do you have maths and English GCSE/Level 2 Functional skills? X

Locally it's all volunteers.

I have maths and English GCSE, English C and Maths D but I have level 2 functional skills in maths and English. I don't have any experience within health and social care but I did do a cache level 2 and cache level 3 in childcare and education. I don't know if that would be any help!

I've had a look into he nhs website and there isn't any jobs for maternity support worker in my area at the moment!
